Between a plethora of diet-focused magazine articles and TV shows like
The Biggest Loser, we're so inundated with before-and-after photos, daily tips and success stories that these are the tools we think of as super-motivators in the quest to lose weight. Which is why I've found myself chuckling when I stumbled across an alternative form of online slim-spiration offered on the site
This is Why You're Fat.com. Ha, great title, huh? The blog aggregates the most horrendous, calorie-laden snacks and meals imaginable from all over the web (think Flickr, Wiki, etc) with photos and gloriously appalling descriptions. At left, the
Seven Pound Breakfast Burrito, "stuffed with potatoes, eggs, onions, and ham bits, lots of cheese on top and smothered in red chile." Other, uh, faves I found while scrolling around included the deep
Fried Twinkie With Chocolate Sauce, the
Deep Fried Cheese-Stuffed Ground Bacon Burger and the
Bacon Donut. (You can upload your own fattening masterpieces--aka "nasty goodness"--via
this link.) Personally, the photos make me a little nauseated (try surfing over if you need to squelch a snack attack). None of this makes me crave fried, fatty fare--but it does strengthen my resolve to cook up some healthy veggies and lean protein for dinner tonight. So--thanks for for the unconvential motivator--it totally worked.

Note: Kate fully endorses this 7-pound burrito...maybe not in one sitting.

Funny site, I hadn't heard of that. Thanks for sharing,
