I'm back in the swing of things at work. And like clockwork, I spilled coffee on my shirt as soon as I sat down at my desk. (Never would've happened if I'd made a resolution to go caffeine-free this year, like Kate!) The people in the next cubicle are eating the smelliest take-out Chinese food in the entire world. I discovered that I'm further behind on a fast-approaching deadline than I anticipated. And--poof!--just like that, my glorious, relaxed, I'm-on-holiday mentality went MIA. Sound familiar? According to an article in the UK's Daily Mail, a new poll finds that we're most apt to flip out at work when we're...irritated by colleagues eating noisily (28%), sniffing (26%), talking too loudly on the phone (21%) and singing (5%). The researchers claim that only one in ten people wants to sit silently when they're feeling stressed out--and that most people prefer venting with a loud tantrum. Really, at work? Personally, I'm in the take-some-deep-breaths-or-a-walk-around-the-block–camp.
