Fit-Pic: Brr, It's Cold Outside

This is what the temperature read around 1 p.m. today at the Silverlode lift at Park City Mountain Resort--barely cracking zero. I wish I had taken a picture of it earlier in the morning when I first looked at it: It was less than zero at 10:30, dangerously close to the -10 line. Brr! I'm scared to know what the peak temperature read...this is only mid-mountain.

Looks like I was one of the few crazies to be skiing this morning. Sure, the ski racks aren't full by any means but I don't recall seeing that many skis outside the Snow Hut at 10:30 a.m. on warmer days. Everyone is usually packed into the lift lines to ride Silverlode.

See? Anyone who thought about braving the cold this morning must have been taking a coffee or hot chocolate break. Usually by mid-morning the lines for the Silverlode lift are already stretching to the end of the ropes and if you don't want to wait in line you've skedaddled to another less-crowded part of PCMR. But not this mid-morning: You could ski right on. Maybe this is what it's like to ski when Sundance is in town and everyone is star-gazing and movie-watching instead of hitting the slopes.
