Fit-Pic: Running It Forward

How'd you like to call this bus home for 18 days? It's not unheard of...if you're in a band touring the country. But take the 8 ultra-runners whose faces smile from the bus's sidewall, and a crew that includes a dentist and the bus driver and you've got the Run It Forward group that's driving and running the 2,400 miles across Route 66 from Chicago to Los Angeles.

Run It Forward departed from Fleet Feet Chicago's Old Town location earlier tonight after kicking off the store's Monday night fun run. I'm impressed that the 8 ran at all, knowing that they'll each log a marathon a day from now until June 1, provided all goes according to plan. RIF has a mission behind all of this running; the organization brings awareness to some of our country's most under-served schools and addresses a child's healthcare, dental, nutritional and physical needs so they can focus on learning.

I'm psyched to follow along on their journey, probably because I know there's no way I could ever do something of such magnitude (my legs alone would be screaming after day 1). Consider this your intro to Run It Forward--I'll be sharing more details about this heart-warming group, like who they are and how they started. And you can always check their progress by following them at Twitter or their website.
