Tickets for Sale: SELF Workout in the Park NYC

It doesn't matter if it's in New York, San Francisco, Chicago or any other city. SELF Magazine's Workout in the Park will always have a special place in my heart and not only for the fitness festivities. Forget Vegas or a girls weekend getaway, I had part of my bachelorette party at the Chicago edition, thanks to my friends who know all too well that a fitness component was a near-necessity in the party-planning process (and I'm so thankful that they played along). So when Fit-Ink received news about tickets for the New York event going on sale on March 15, I wasn't about to ignore the request to talk about it. And before I forget, I should also mention that this year's events are happening in San Francisco on May 5, New York on May 12 and Chicago on June 2, and all the details and ticket information is available at selfworkoutinthepark.com.

It doesn't matter if you've sweat through a SELF Workout in the Park before, this day of fitness is far from a "been there, done that" event. Organizers are quick to flex their exercise expertise to offer new and different workouts, celebrity hosts and perks from year to year. New Yorkers, here are just a few reasons to clear your calendar and make May 12 all about you and your health:

  • The 19th annual Workout in the Park is happening in New York City at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park.
  • Here's your excuse for a power workout session. Workout in the Park runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 12.
  • It's known to sell out so you want to buy your tickets sooner rather than later. Each $20 ticket includes a one-year subscription to SELF--even better.
  • You don't have to exercise for four hours--this fitness festival gives you some of CRUNCH's hottest classes but it also offers beauty and fashion consultations, nutritional know-how, freebies and giveaways. You'll easily walk out with more knowledge and goodies than you came with.
  • There's a killer line-up from the celebrity set. We're talking Dolvett Quince from The Biggest Loser, Danielle Monaro from Z100 and Louis Van Amstel from Dancing with the Stars.
  • The workouts are too intriguing not to try. Dolvett promises to show how you can tone up using only a chair while Van Amstel takes you through his LaBlast workout. And CRUNCH brings some of the hottest new exercise trends: Fly Girls, POUND Rockstar Workout and Hippie Yoga. Practice your dance moves with Fly Girls, build strength with weighted drumsticks in POUND and open your hips with Hippie Yoga (I know I need that one).
  • All of your sweating is for a good cause. SELF will make a donation to Cancer and Careers and The Conservation Fund, two participating charities.
I know I can wait until Workout in the Park comes to Chicago, too, but I'm already excited enough for the New York event. So much so that I'm almost tempted to plan a weekend around it (that's all the NATO conference talks around here making me paranoid for May). Can you blame me: travel with exercise built in and the chance to see my New York friends? It doesn't get much better than that unless the friends came here. But enough about me...if you want to get sweaty with SELF, hurry and score your spot here.
